John Kokai-Kun, Ph.D. is the director of External Scientific Collaboration for USP. He received his B.S. in biochemistry from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. He also served as a post-doctoral researcher at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Kokai-Kun has over 20 years of experience in the drug development industry and has held positions with several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies where his research and development efforts have focused primarily on anti-bacterial drugs and vaccines. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed publications relating to various aspects of drug development and microbial pathogenesis. Dr. Kokai-Kun is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at USUHS and retired from the United States Army.
