Gersande Chavez is the Vice President, Global and Federal Practice in the Global Health and Manufacturing Services division at USP. She sets the strategic direction and leads the execution of our growth and sustainability efforts both internationally and in the United States, including longer-term expansion plans for new services and increased capabilities. She leads a team responsible for revenue growth and program implementing in LMICs and the US in the context of public health, with an emphasis on supply chain resilience and patient access to medical products. Ms. Chavez leverages her broad programmatic and leadership experience to build high-performing teams and inclusive work environments that meet or exceed client goals.
Ms. Chavez has over two decades of experience as designing quality programs in global health, education, economic development, organizational governance and financing throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean that are grounded in data and evidence. She has a proven track-record of enhancing processes to achieve impact and managing internal and external change. An adept connector, people leader and mentor committed to inclusive management, Ms. Chavez enjoys finding new and better ways to meet organizational missions with greater impact.
She joined USP after building the new business function for International Medical Corps from the ground up, securing more than $150M in funding from USAID, CDC, the Gates Foundation and others in less than 3 years. Gersande led a team to build the capacity of more than 18 country teams across Asia and Africa to market organizational capabilities, partner with new organizations and donors, and design and roll-out new business processes. Prior to IMC, Gersande held several senior-level positions at Save the Children for nearly 10 years. She served as Director of Management Support for the International Programs group, Country Director and Associate Vice President for Latin American and the Caribbean with oversight of a portfolio of $100M annually in 6 countries.
Gersande Chavez holds an MBA in International Finance and Marketing Management and a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University. She speaks French, Spanish and English fluently, has lived abroad and traveled extensively for work.
